James is a partner in our Transportation and Private Capital Practices, based in Toronto.
He is an experienced, trusted advisor specializing in company transformations, turnarounds, restructurings, and mergers and acquisitions (M&A). He advises clients on M&A, including diligence and post-merger integration, across multiple industries.
James has spent most of his career in industry, in corporate development and finance roles — building strong technical capabilities and a solid track record of solving complex problems and repositioning companies for long-term success.
Prior to joining Oliver Wyman in 2023, he served as a partner in the Financial Advisory M&A Practice at Deloitte, specializing in post-merger integration.
He began his career in industry, with significant experience in railroads, banking, and steel manufacturing. His work in finance, commercial, operations, and corporate development provides him with a broad perspective on business transformations.

James holds an MBA from Queen’s University and a bachelor’s degree from Simon Fraser University in Vancouver. He has also shared his expertise by teaching finance at the British Columbia Institute of Technology and holds board of directors accreditation from Toronto Metropolitan University.
On a personal level, he has a passion for architecture and enjoys renovating old houses. He also serves on the board of directors for a nonprofit classical music festival in Prince Edward County, Ontario.
