Wei Ying Cheah is a Partner at Oliver Wyman, Malaysia. She leads transformative consulting projects for financial institutions across Asia, focusing on non-financial risk. As a sponsor of Oliver Wyman’s women’s network, Wei Ying champions the firm’s efforts to attract, develop and retain talented women across the region.

Wei Ying Cheah helps regulators and financial service organisations meet new challenges arising from the evolution of non-financial risks. With the rise of digitalization and, entry of non-traditional financial service providers and changing regulatory landscape, the financial services industry is facing unprecedented pressures and needs to adapt quickly in order to survive.

I bring the latest thinking in managing and adapting traditional methods of non-financial risks to both financial services organizations and regulators alike. I use my knowledge of local requirements and constraints in order to adapt international best practices to local needs

In addition, Wei Ying plays an active role in leading the gender diversity agenda in Asia as the senior sponsor for Women of Oliver Wyman (WOW) APR, championing the development & retention of highly talented women in consulting including overseeing events such as WOW-X, which helps to connect young female consultants to senior women in multiple industries; Men4Change as well as other mentorship / sponsorship initiatives.

I think it’s extremely important that we do all that we can to increase diversity in the firm; not only in terms of gender – but also in terms of culture, background, ethnicity, etc. as this provides a richness of thought and debate that is required in our increasingly inter-connected world
