Ross Eaton On Growth Of Private Debt Market In Australia

A recent Oliver Wyman report estimated the global private credit market is at least 50 per cent larger than typically reported; closer to US$3 trillion rather than the US$1.7 trillion often quoted.

Ross Eaton, partner in Oliver Wyman's Financial Services and Climate and Sustainability practices, shared his comments with Australian Financial Review on the growth of private credit, which was one of the themes that emerged from the Macquarie Australia Conference held from 7–9 May.

“Private debt is likely to play a more visible and active role in the Australian financial sector in future, as major banks continue to retreat from higher risk lending markets and investors such as super funds, private equity funds and family offices seek returns,” said Eaton.
